DAVID ACRES

DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

David Acres came to America in the Fall of 2013 after meeting his wife in the Summer of 2012 at Wells Cathedral in England. David started his musical career as a boy chorister in Exeter Cathedral in Devon, England. He trained under Lionel Dakers and Robin Gritton in voice and choral directing in his late teens and early twenties, and went on to found and run several choral ensembles, including the critically acclaimed chamber choir Counterpoint - www.counterpoint-uk.com.

Over the years David has sung with many choral ensembles and has performed in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Northern Ireland, Norway and Italy. He has recorded Early Music and Baroque CDs for Hyperion, Decca, Herald, ASV, Nimbus and Priory and he currently co-runs and directs the Charleston-based choir, The King's Counterpoint. More information can be found on The King's Counterpoint's website, www.thekingscounterpoint.com.

In addition to being a member of the Staff at Old St. Andrew's, David and his wife Judith are members of this wonderful parish, and have the added joy of working together at the church: Judith is the Assistant to the Music Director, and leads the Old St. Andrew's Handbell Choirs, is the parish Webmaster, and is a section leader with the Parish Choir.
